04.11.2009 -
One of the biggest design competitions in Slovenia is concluded. The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia opened a design competition in the summer of 2009 for the systemic solution of the corporate identity of civil service bodies. Because this is a systemic solution, the corporate identity must cover the whole government, the ministries, agencies, offices and everything else in that kettle.
Since brand architectures and identity systems are one of our favorite delights, we at Kontrastika took part in the competition. The concepts were assessed by a jury consisting of Ranko Novak (president of the jury, representative of the Expert Workgroup or the Analysis of Used Corporate Identities of Civil Service Bodies), Maja Gaspan Vičič, MA (jury member, Designers Society of Slovenia), Kim Meyer Andersen (jury member, creative director of Kontrapunkt from Denmark), Stojan Pelko, PhD (jury member, state secretary at the Ministry of Culture) and Veronika Stabej (jury member, director of the Government Communication Office).
The seventeen pitches the jury received included pitches from some of the most distinguished Slovenian design agencies, and the jury placed us on the short list among the top three best assessed works.
In a tight finish, we ranked the highest in the second round, but only made it to the third place in the end. At this point, we would like to repeat the mantra of the Slovenian skiing team and our sports commentators – "an excellent third place!". |
