matjaž tomažič receives the award for the most attractive slovene book of 2007
01.12.2007 -
The awards ceremony of the 23rd Slovene Book Fair was held in the Cankarjev dom cultural and congress center, Ljubljana on 27 November 2007. The award for the most attractive Slovene book in the category of scientific books/textbooks went to Matjaž for designing the “Kratka” book series, published by Založba Krtina.
The expert jury explained their selection: “The paperback series has a pure and clear design in contrast with the complex structure of its content, which is achieved through the use of efficient visual devices.”
The “Kratka” book series is a Slovene translation of the Oxford Press published series “A Very Short Introduction”. The paperback books deal with various fields of science, society and art in a popularized, and often also critical manner. So far the volumes on Political Philosophy, Social and Cultural Anthropology, Global Warming and Contemporary Art have been published from the series, and while this is being written, the printing presses are chucking out the new volume on Journalism.
